Is A Petrol Remote Control Car Bad For The Environment?

Racing at high speeds with powerful engine using petrol remote control car is a dream for RC car racers. Several exclusively designed racing tracks are available to enable hobbyists to have fun with their expensive toy cars. The petrol powered RC cars are of the scale 1:5 and only real racers who are keen about becoming the star of the race will own such cars. Petrol powered cars require maintenance just like normal cars.

As regular petrol fuel is used in petrol remote control car, issues about environmental pollution automatically arise. Fossil fuels are depleted to manufacture petrol and some environmental experts express their concern over using such a valuable fuel for a fun purpose. However, it is to be remembered that petrol mixed with engine oil is only used in RC cars and the 0.6 liter fuel tank will contain only minimal amount of petrol. Once the tank is filled, racers can have lots more fun for around 6-7 hours.

The emissions from RC cars powered by petrol are very much similar to the emissions from any regular car. They certainly cause some damage to the environment when several racers use petrol cars for racing. However, when compared to the amount of fuel used and burned in real racing, this amount is very much negligible.

Many gas powered remote control cars come with backup batteries to help racers during long races. These can be considered as hybrid cars which utilize lesser amount of petrol. Even though these cars were not designed with the environmental emissions in mind, use of battery power for a few hours of racing can control pollution to some extent.

Some people complain of the noise that comes out of petrol remote control cars when they are raced on tracks. These cars are designed to create noise at high speeds so that the drivers enjoy the thrill of racing on real tracks.

Even ambitious remote control racers won't be racing their cars continuously and hence, the effect of emissions from remote control cars on the environment can be negligible. In the name of hobbies, several dangerous activities are pursued by many people. RC car racers on the other hand, simply gather at their tracks and have several hours of fun without disturbing others. Moreover, there are not several thousands of experienced drivers who use gas powered cars for racing because even with the popularity of RC car racing, the racing tracks are filled with electric cars powered by batteries.
